First of December
December is here, and donates the first frosty day.
God gave us memories that we might have roses in December
– John M. Barrie
30
Ok be aware, some ugly self-laudation follows, haha. As of today, I have lost 30Kg or 60 pounds weight. I’m on a diet since 6 month now and I’m quite proud that I have made it so far. These photos are a contribution to one of the things which made it possible to reached this second last milestone: my bike.
Well, there are many more reasons: my wife, because of her infinite patience and support and for strictly not buying any sweeties; my son who doesn’t call me flab anymore; my doc, who asked me one of the most important questions of my life: “do you want to see your son grow up?” and well, my, incredible willpower (loud buzzer sound: lie lie lie!!!!).
Ok, enough of this. Let’s go for the next 25 pounds to reach the final target.
Autumn Impressions
Some autumnal scenes from today at dusk. Please click the Thumbnails for a larger size.
Autumn is really the best of the seasons; and I’m not sure that old age isn’t the best part of life. But of course, like autumn, it doesn’t last.

Morning Glory
To see a world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour
– William Blake
Harvesting Season
Time to harvest the fields, again. And as every year around this time, I remember that I’ve planned to make a four seasons shooting on one single location since ages. Well, one must always have some plans in the photo bag ;-).
Remember
Remembering spring. Well it’s the same every year: at the latest in January I feel so bored of the winter and wish that spring would come immediately. That’s silly I know, but I’m definitely not the winter type. So well, a least a summer shot. ;-)
Apocalyptic
Funny: a thunderstorm arrives with huge cloud-movement.
Not funny: run for a shelter two minutes later… ;)
Fresh!
Green green green, wherever I go. I love this season. :) And I love my slow “Primadonna” Sigma DP1s, whose output is very nice for this kind of photos. Clearly scores off my 5D.
Autumn Evening
Dark hills against a hollow crocus sky
Scarfed with its crimson pennons, and below
The dome of sunset long, hushed valleys lie
Cradling the twilight, where the lone winds blow
And wake among the harps of leafless trees
Fantastic runes and mournful melodies.
The chilly purple air is threaded through
With silver from the rising moon afar,
And from a gulf of clear, unfathomed blue
In the southwest glimmers a great gold star
Above the darkening druid glens of fir
Where beckoning boughs and elfin voices stir.
And so I wander through the shadows still,
And look and listen with a rapt delight,
Pausing again and yet again at will
To drink the elusive beauty of the night,
Until my soul is filled, as some deep cup,
That with divine enchantment is brimmed up.
Petunia in the rain
Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into.
~Henry Beecher, Life Thoughts, 1858
Perfect Place II
Also one of my favourite places close to my hometown. This pond has it’s very own athmosphere, varying by the different seasons. But all have one in common: t’s always a tranquil place.
Playground
Autumn announces itself now with falling leaves, golden trees and smooth daylight. Scenes from a local playground.
Red Cap
A red cap was left back from someone on this empty beach. I liked the contrast, from the distance I thought it was a warning sign.
